Finish taking notes and then complete the 15 quiz questions at the end of the power point. Write the answers only. This week in ELA we will focus on determining the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text, including figurative languages. We will do this by reading several poems written by African American writers. This will lead us to comparing and contrasting the structure of these text and responding to writing prompts using to evidence to support our response. Students will conduct a short research project using multiple digital and print sources, synthesize the information found by creating a diary entry and participate in our classroom poetry cafe.

We have also started our ThinkCERCA writing assignments where students will be developing claim, reasons, reasoning, evidence, and counter claims. This assignment is online so it can be done at home as well as in school.
