This week we will be working on the pre-writing stage of of Thematic Literature Response.
Homework board Mon - develop topic and theme Tues - complete thematic web by adding 3 pieces of evidence Wed. - complete thesis statement Thurs. - draft introduction Read each excerpt and complete the chart. We did the first one in class together. The excerpts can be found on pages 202, 204, 205, and 206 respectively. Don't forget the answer the multiple choice question at the bottom of this post. Also, complete 1 CERCA and get your sheet signed.
7th Grade
This week we will end our unit on Identity with the novel The Outsiders. All students should have the book completely read and should be ready for multiple assessments, which include a unit test and an argumentative essay (essay - upon returning from spring break). We will also explore the many themes throughout the book, review plot and close out by watching the movie. Homework board Nightly reading and book log - Due April 25th Students should be reading over Spring Vacation and keeping track using a book log Mon - finish theme questions Tues. - finish plot questions Wed. Study notes and summaries to prepare for Unit Test 8th Grade We have finished the first part of to Kill a Mockingbird, which means all students should have read through ch.11. Before moving into part two of the novel, we will complete text to film analysis, a close read, written conversations, as well as part one unit assessment.
