This week we will be applying Conflict and Symbolism to our class novels.  Students will determine the types of conflicts arising throughout the book as well as events that represent something other than itself (symbolism). 

Book logs DUE - 10.27.2016

Homework board

Reading - 8th grade should read to page 200 by the end of the week
Reading - 7th grade should read to page 276 by the end of the week

Tuesday - complete conflict chart (7th and 8th) and questions (8th only)
Wednesday - google classroom assignment
Thursday - study for quiz on traits and conflict

This week in ela 10.17 - 10.21

This week we will continue to read our novels while working on characterization.  The character profile page is due Wednesday, October 19th.  Students should also be prepared for a pop quiz sometime this week on our novels as well as character traits.  

Be sure to complete all reading for the week (8th 90-140 by the end of the week; 7th 124-194 by the end of the week)

This week in ElA 10.3 - 10.7

We have started our whole class novels (Tangerine 7th and Touching Spirit Bear 8th) and will begin becoming familiar with vocabulary terms as approach each chapter.  This week we are studying Narrative Perspective, by identifying the point of view the story is told from.  Students will have several opportunities to practice POV throughout the week.

Mon - Read pgs. 12-28 be prepared for questions
Tues - Read 28 - 40 be prepared for questions
Wed. - Read pgs. 40-52 complete independent writing in RNB
Thurs and Fri - Read 52 - 74 complete POV practice

8th grade
Tues -Read pgs. 10-20 complete questions on ch.2
Wed. Read 20-30 Complete Vocabulary and POV practice
Thurs - Fri - Read pgs. 30-50 Complete independent writing in RNB

    Language Arts

    Readers Lead and Leaders Read! 


    Daily/Nightly Reading

    30 minutes or more; mark book logs.  This is a grade (Due bi-weekly)


    Come prepared to class with your Reader's Notebook, novel, and homework daily!
