This week in ELA we will focus on determining the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text, including figurative languages. We will do this by reading several poems written by African American writers. This will lead us to comparing and contrasting the structure of these text and responding to writing prompts using to evidence to support our response. Students will conduct a short research project using multiple digital and print sources, synthesize the information found by creating a diary entry and participate in our classroom poetry cafe.
