Greetings!
This week 8th grade will begin watching the film - A Raisin in the Sun together compare and analyze the print version of the play to the film using the comparison analysis sheet. We will also create a One Pager by using several techniques, literary devices, and reading strategies gained from reading the play, A Raisin in the Sun. 7th grade will make a better connection with what it was like for The Little Rock Nine during the integration process after watching the history channel video and by responding to text dependent questions using the question and answer option in a Jam board. We will also gather quotes and other evidence from the text to develop a better insight into a chosen character by completing the character analysis.

We are excited to announce that the 2020-2021 Maroon Tutor Match (MTM) parent application is now open! If you have families who are interested in having a UChicago student provide 1:1 virtual tutoring to their child(ren), please feel free to sign up at this link to be matched. Tutoring rates are $14/hr. and we have limited scholarships available to local families in need of financial support.

Weekly Assignments: Independent reading for 30 min a day, Read Theory, Asynchronous and Synchronous assignments.
Google Classroom: Student use this platform for daily assignments
Grades: Starting September 8, 2020 CPS will return to regular grading practices, as the district will ensure all students have the tools they need to succeed. There will be no pass or incomplete grades given.
Office Hours: School days from 2:10 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. We will use this time to connect with students and families. We will have scheduled appointments as well as open times. We will use Google Hangouts for one-on-one meetings and Google Meet for group sessions.
Communication platforms with students: Aspen and Google Suites (Google Classroom, CPS email, Google Meet, Google Chat).
Communication platforms with parents/families: Aspen, email, blog and phone. We recommend that parents/families know the emails and passwords of their students so they can also access Google Classroom.
