Welcome to quarter 2!
This week we will continue writing our essays to close out the writing portion of our unit on Dear Martin and Ghost Boys. We will do some peer editing and publishing this week. Please look over essays with the students as it is always good to have another set of eyes on our work.

Introduce claim(s), acknowledge and distinguish the claim(s) from alternate or opposing claims, and organize the reasons and evidence logically.

High School Fair - Friday, November 13, 2020 from 9:15 - 10:45. More information from Ms. Nieto, School Counselor coming soon.
Quarter 1 Virtual Parent Conferences - Wednesday, November 18, 2020. Links will be sent out and report cards will be mailed out this week. This is a non-attendance day for students.
It is Art time!! Art class starts this week from 1:10-1:40 on Thursdays for homeroom 307 with Ms. Lauritsen. Below is the link.

ELA Assignments and Other Information:
Weekly Assignments: Independent reading for 30 min a day, Read Theory, Asynchronous and Synchronous assignments.
Google Classroom: Student use this platform for daily assignments
Grades: Starting September 8, 2020 CPS will return to regular grading practices, as the district will ensure all students have the tools they need to succeed. There will be no pass or incomplete grades given.
Office Hours: School days from 2:10 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. We will use this time to connect with students and families. We will have scheduled appointments as well as open times. We will use Google Hangouts for one-on-one meetings and Google Meet for group sessions.
Communication platforms with students: Aspen and Google Suites (Google Classroom, CPS email, Google Meet, Google Chat).
Communication platforms with parents/families: Aspen, email, blog and phone. We recommend that parents/families know the emails and passwords of their students so they can also access Google Classroom.
